Portia was closely involved with the design concept of this Grain and Fertiliser Terminal. A project manager was provided to supervise the construction of the terminal and instal
lation
of grain and fertiliser handling equip
ment.

The terminal has a storage capacity of some 70,000 tonnes and is capable of handling in excess of 10,000 tonnes over the berth per day. Grain can be delivered to both road and rail vehicles, either bagg
ed or in bulk. Predictions for 2001 indicate that the terminal will handle approximately 1 million tonnes.

On commissioning, Portia became fully responsible for all aspects of port management and operations.
