Portia Supporting Port of Liverpool

Portia are happy to report that the commissioning and live testing programme for the latest batch of CRMG Cranes is well underway at the Peel Ports T2 Container Terminal in the Port of Liverpool. As one of the most operationally efficient and modern terminals in Northern Europe, the deep-water terminal offers ‘future-proof’ facilities, giving global shipping companies reliable access to major import and export centres in the heart of the UK.

Portia’s Senior Engineer Richard Cheetham Senior said “The first 2 CRMG cranes have now completed all commissioning and live equipment testing with the TOS. Live equipment testing commences this week on the next 2 cranes. The next three CRMG cranes are currently under automation final calibration and preparation for the 24-hour endurance and energy testing starting later this week.”

Richard added “The final three cranes are situated within a live operational stacking area. Punch list works and function recovery activities are well underway. The cranes are live and testing will start in the coming weeks as the new blocks are handed over to the Operations Department.”

Once fully operational Phase 2 of the £400m T2 container terminal development will further enhance vessel and yard handling capabilities. This project will also improve the UK’s supply chain resilience whilst boosting the regional and wider economies. Portia are proud to continue to assist Peel Ports through the Phase 2 development of the T2 Container Terminal.
