Portia Maritime Professionals Get Together
Portia has held its 3rd “Maritime Professionals Get Together “webinar in 2023 and we were delighted to have as our guest speaker Mike Nicholson of Shipmove Marine Consultancy. Mike, delivered a very interesting presentation on the “Shipmove Mooring App“ (https://www.shipmove.uk/Mooring_App).
By using the vessel LOA (Length Overall), windspeed, and current the Shipmove Mooring App is able to determine the maximum force acting on the vessel due to currents and wind.. It is then able to determine (amongst other things) the required number of moorings for commercial vessels on ship by ship basis.
All attendees then took part in an extremely interesting Q&A session. Colin Jones Portia’s General Manager said “After the summer break, it was important to catch up with colleagues and prepare for a productive end to 2023. Thanks to all those that took part, and special thanks to Mike Nicholson.
