The UK Government has backed a new initiative called “Generation Logistics” being launched by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and Logistics UK.
The initiative aims to boost recruitment into the logistics sector including ports and terminals. The campaign was initiated following growing recognition of how the logistics sector was able to support the country through the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent turbulence being seen today in global supply chains.
The British Ports Association is also supporting the campaign by publishing an online document highlighting the different types of roles to be found in ports, harbors, and terminals around the U.K.
Portia relies on the continuing growth and development of individuals in the ports and terminals industry and strongly supports any campaign to get fresh talent into the industry. Portia hopes that this campaign will be one of many recognizing the value of individuals and communities in and around our ports and terminals for years to come.
