Phase 1 of the Port Qasim project has now completed and involved Portia advising on the optimum terminal layout, types of equipment required for the projected throughputs, equipment specifications and tender analysis.
Phase 2 (construction) has now commenced and Portia’s role during this phase is to continue to provide technical advice relating to issues between the equipment suppliers and the client, coordinate and progress the terminal design, monitor the progress of the M & E suppliers and carry out inspections to ensure that all equipment is being designed and manufactured in accordance with the best international practice.
Completion and commissioning of the terminal is on course and operations are due to start on 1st July 2010. On commissioning of the terminal Portia will take over the management of the terminal and provide training for local staff.
