Ian has been involved in transportation and logistics since 1978, initially land based, then specialising in maritime transport and logistics serving on and commanding UK Ministry of Defence cargo vessels. He has operated at the strategic and operational level throughout his career and has experience in managing ports in the UK and overseas. Ian has been consistently successful in managing existing port operations and in establishing new ones.

Mobilised into the British Army in support of operations in Iraq, Ian headed the team responsible for re-establishing post conflict commercial operations at the Port of Umm Qasr.

Ian also worked as Supply Chain Manager for the Waratah Train Project in China with responsibility for worldwide supply chains, importation, quality control and timely delivery to production lines.

Ian has more recently focused on delivering projects relating to the Port, Maritime, Oil Refinery and related Security sectors. He has extensive experience in taking projects from inception through planning and onto implementation and is experienced in project management and in the leading and directing of teams. Ian is highly skilled in the research and writing of bids, studies, reports, policies (strategic & operational) and operating procedures.
